Difference between woven fabric and knitted fabric

Shuttle fabric is a fabric composed of two or more groups of mutually perpendicular warp and weft interwoven at 90 degrees. The longitudinal yarn is called warp, while the transverse yarn is called weft.

Knitted fabrics are formed by bending the yarn into coils in turn, and the coils are nested with each other. The process of forming a coil through the yarn can be carried out horizontally or vertically. The horizontal knitting is called weft knitting, and the vertical knitting is called warp knitting.

Woven fabric is slightly bent at the intersection of warp and weft, and it bends in the direction perpendicular to the weft plane. The degree of bending is related to the tension between warp and weft and the yarn stiffness. When the spindle fabric is subjected to external tension such as longitudinal tension, the inclined tension increases, the bending decreases, and the weft bending increases.

The loops of knitted fabric are curved in space, so each loop is composed of yarn. If the knitting is subject to external tension such as longitudinal tension, the bending of the coil will change and the height of the coil will also increase. On the contrary, the width of the coil will decrease. The tension is horizontally stretched, and the height and width of the coil can obviously be converted to each other under different tension conditions.

Because the expansion and contraction of warp and weft yarns of woven fabrics have little relationship with each other and will not change, woven fabrics are generally tight and strong.

Knitted fabrics can extend in all directions and have good elasticity. Knitted shirts are made of hole-shaped coils, with high permeability and soft feel.

The physical and mechanical properties of woven fabrics, including the yarn density of warp and weft, selvage, front and back, wool direction and fabric coverage.

The physical and mechanical properties of knitted fabrics include: longitudinal wear, transverse wear, ductility, elasticity, breaking strength, wear resistance, crimp, thickness, detachability, shrinkage, coverage and bulk density.

What are the general characteristics of rib cloth?

Rib fabric is a kind of knitted fabric. The surface of this kind of fabric is in the form of rib. The common ones are 1 * 1 rib, 2 * 2 rib and 3 * 3 rib. In recent years, the chemical fiber (spandex) rib fabric has gradually become popular. Of course, rib fabric can also be used to make bottoms, T-shirts, sweaters, etc. Next, I will introduce the advantages and disadvantages of rib fabric.
